Templebreedy fort is to become a national monument

Templbreedy Fort near Camden, Crosshaven is due to become a national monument

Templebreedy fort is to become a national monument which will prevent a housing development being built on the 28 acre site and keeps alive the notion that the area should become a public space.

The Department of Defence, who own the land, wanted to sell the site to developers, but councillors moved last August to declare the fort a protected structure which includes it’s surrounding area.

However, the Department of Defence still intend to sell the land despite the ruling, and councillors still want the site to come under the control of the local authority and to become a public amenity.
