Visit the magnificent Spike Island this Cork Harbour Open Weekend

Thank you to all who entered our competition celebrating Cork Harbour Open Weekend, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2012. The winners are Aoife Murphy (Saturday) & Audrey Dooley (Sunday)

Question: What is the name of the fort on Spike Island?
Answer: Fort Mitchell

Don't worry if you didn't win the prize!!

Boats to Spike Island will be leaving Kennedy Pier, Cobh from 11.00am -4.00pm. Return trips from Spike Island back to Cobh will run until 6.00pm. Usual price for tickets for boats and entrance to the fort during the Open Weekend are priced at €5 per adult and €15 per family and will be available at the Marine Transport Kiosk, Kennedy Pier.

This is an excellent opportunity to explore the historical fort, picnic in the grounds with the family and walk the recently completed 1.6km Walking Trail developed along the perimeter of Fort Mitchell with stunning views over Cork Harbour. A full programme of family entertainment is also on offer.
