A decision is due shortly on plans to develop the site of Cork Boat Club in Blackrock Village. The Club is due to have a €1 million clubhouse developed further up the Marina in a deal with Grangefield Developments. A 45 unit residential development is proposed for the site which will rise to 6 stories in places. This has resulted in residents objecting to the scale of the development and Councillor Chris O Leary has lodged an objection saying there is no infrastructure to support it.

Cork Boat Club feel there would be no other way for the club to build the new clubhouse without the deal which involves an agreement with the City Council to buy land at the Marina.
