Planning Objections to Harbour Cat Ferries Proposal

The Harbour Cat Ferries proposal to develop a €30million ferry taxi service for Cork Harbour has suffered a number of planning setbacks in the last month. Passage West Council have objected to the development of a Monkstown ferry-taxi terminal on the basis of traffic and parking problems.

A favourable planning decision for a supporting ferry terminal in Cobh is under appeal to An Bord Pleanala. The City Hall rejected planning for landing terminals in Blackrock and on the Marina, which the company itself wishes to appeal.

Decisions are pending regarding a ferry landing station in the city, at Fishguard Wharf, Horgans Quay. The proposal for a docking terminal at Crosshaven is the only application that has been successful to date.
