Cork Harbour Events

This year Cork Harbour will be full of activity with events taking place around the harbour. Ocean to City Race, Crosshaven Traditional Sail, Monkstown Traditional Sail and Cork Harbour Open Day have grouped together to form ‘Cork Harbour Events’. Supported by South East Cork Area Development (SECAD), Cork Harbour Events will work together to jointly promote the visual amenity of Cork Harbour, to promote interest and raise awareness of local maritime history and to increase public participation through Irish food and craft markets at each event. Cork Harbour Events comprise:

Crosshaven Traditional Sail – A classic boat regatta with music, markets and a parade of sail through Crosshaven village. Taking place in Crosshaven from 12 th – 14 th June, for more information visit www.crosshaventradsail.com

 Monkstown Traditional Sail – A traditional boat festival in Monkstown with boat building competitions, food and craft markets and family entertainment. Taking place in Monkstown from 19 th – 21 st June 2009, for more information visit www.mbsc.ie

 Cork Harbour Open Day – Organised by the Harbour Management Focus Group, the day will include the Cobh to Blackrock race, rowing, swimming races, treasure hunts, walking tours, art classes etc  (full itinerary to be confirmed). The event which is set to be a full day event, will take place on Sunday 6 th September 2009.  Ocean to City which has already taken place this year, and attracted a large number of participants and visitors to Cork. Beginning in Crosshaven, the rowing boats made their way up to the City Quays, where music, markets and a party atmosphere awaited the crews. Ocean to City will take place again next year on June 5 th 2010.
