A planning application by The Port of Cork Company for a new container terminal in Ringaskiddy was rejected by An Bord Pleanala, primarily on the basis of traffic implications, including a lack of rail infrastructure. The port expressed disappointment with the decision as the existing Tivoli container facility is operating at full capacity. The Port of Cork may seek a judicial review of the decision. A second option may be identify an alternative location.
